Members bench a large variety of flowering orchids at monthly meetings and our seasonal shows. The orchids are judged by a panel of Orchid Society of NSW judges. Prizes are presented to the chosen members plants from open (experienced), novice and junior grower classes. Points are accumulated for plants benched at monthly meetings with prizes presented at the end of the year.

We often have an interesting species of the month presentation from an experienced grower. The meeting usually ends with a presentation of a lucky door prize and raffle prizes are also drawn. Benching results, images of the monthly prize winners and other orchid information is distributed in the monthly newsletter during the following month, sent by email.

Other club activities enjoyed by members include bus trips, orchid crawls, orchid shows, fundraising events and our annual Christmas party and presentation night.

Our aim is to encourage people to grow their orchids well, and to share the joy of orchids with others.

Blue Mountains and Penrith Districts Orchid Society has been established for more than 60 years and has over 100 members.
